Works under immediate supervision; relies on specific instructions andguidelines to complete the job.Principal Duties / ResponsibilitiesReads production scheduling sheets and identifies required material for theoperation.Ensures material meets quality specifications (grade, size, moisturecontent, etc).Performs setups according to specifications.Feeds material according to specifications.Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, andif required, may cover, label and band components/finished product.Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safeto operate.Completes pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist and reports anyproblems or concerns.Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.Maintains production records as required.Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures,rules, and standards.Performs LOTO as required.Performs preventive maintenance as specified.Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsKnowledgeHigh school diploma/GED is preferred but not required.Minimum 3 months experience using saws or similar equipment; some experiencein manufacturing and assembling is preferred.Working knowledge of basic math.Must be at least 18 years of age.Skills and abilitiesAbility to work in a safe mannerAbility to recognize size/grade/quality of materialDemonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directionsDemonstrate ability to use and operate dangerous/heavy equipmentDemonstrate ability to stack material properlyAbility to pay attention to surroundingsAbility to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipmentmalfunctionsAbility to understand basic verbal and written instructions in English.Ability to complete production reportingAbility to read a tape measureAbility to learn/understand cuts and yieldsAbility to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance to the equipmentDemonstrate eye-hand coordinationAbility to work under immediate supervisionAbility to pass a drug testAbility to work hours mandated by managementConductSafety consciousTeam player and goal orientedOpen to change and positive attitudeCommitted to plant and company goalsParticipates in Safety and CI programsPunctual and reliableLooks for ways to improve productivity and department resultsSalary/HourlyHourlyUniversal Forest Products and its subsidiaries and affiliates are equalopportunity employers.
