The Operations Strategic Support Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.
At Ball Aerospace’s Westminster Colorado location, we develop and manufacture state of the art RF & sensor technologies that are integrated onto tactical missile and aircraft platforms. The Operations Technician role will support day to day operations within our Westmoor-7 (WMR-7) development and light manufacturing facility. This opportunity requires a result driven & detail oriented individual, with the ability to operate autonomously, ensuring fundamental processes are managed in direct support of the Tactical Solutions (TS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU).
What You’ll Do:
Act as the WMR7 asset liaison ensuring safe storage and logistics of items required to support day to day operations.
Inventory Management – manage requests and place orders for VMI material.
Lab audits – daily lab compliance inspections.
Promote culture of safety and communication by hanging and maintaining signs throughout facility.
Submit facility and housekeeping work orders on behalf of stakeholder requests.
Promote and sustain 6S principles to increase value stream performance improvements that yield zero accidents, defect free products, and on time delivery.
As the POC for all building logistics, this role will manage shipping & receiving transactions at the dock, maintain lab inventory stock including consumables, transport chemicals from the dock to labs, and manage nitrogen usage, stock, and testing.
Inventory Management – stock and maintain chemical cabinets and inventory crib.
Monitor cleanroom and ESD consumables.
Take and record humidity and temperature sensor readings.
Update production visual management boards.
Manage HazMat storage and waste management processes.
Perform basic preventive maintenance activities.
Review, build, troubleshoot and repair technically difficult equipment and tools, interpret owner’s manual and research as required to accomplish repairs.
Operate forklift, overhead crane and other equipment used to move heavy assets.
A strong mechanical aptitude in order to assemble basic devices and apply creativity to workcell design challenges.
Operate wood shop power tools and perform basic carpentry skills.
Maintain an orderly and compliant work area and predictable work schedule.
CAD drawing skills are preferred.
Assignments may be diverse, rapidly paced, and technically difficult.
Develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Complete tasks while complying with safety practices and standards including wearing safety equipment and clothing as well as following procedures for material handling.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 or more years of related experience, or a two-year technical degree with 8 or more years of related experience.
Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to interface effectively with people at all levels.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must know how to address customers’ needs, when to volunteer and when to defer actions to responsible engineer.
Must have demonstrated understanding of process and process compliance and ability to participate in process audits and corrective actions.
Experience in hand tools, soldering, and ESD sensitive processes.
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
