Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. Energy Application Services and Analytics Intern (IRC32139) in Westminster, Colorado

Brief Posting Description

Tri-State is an electric a power utility providing electricity to rural electric cooperatives. We have a Summer Intern opportunity for 2020 to assist in our Energy Application Services and Analytics and Forecasting departments. Students who have successfully completed their junior year of undergraduate study this Spring towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related Engineering disciple from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply. Seniors who are starting a master's degree program in the Fall or are graduating in December, are also encouraged to apply.

This summer intern position offers students hands on opportunity to work in activities related to Tri-State's preparation to enter into the Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM) and Western Energy Imbalance Service (WEIS).

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • The Intern will work with engineers in both departments and will assist with gathering, vetting, and inputting data as required along with supporting software modifications and setup as directed.

Projects:

  • WEIM and WEIS related projects as they impact WebAccounting, Hyperion and other areas/systems as determined by Energy Applications Service Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Familiarity with software systems development and testing.

  • Strong with Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Analytical and organizational skills.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills are desired of applicants as well as ability to work in a team environment.

  • Willingness to learn and work in two different but related departments.

Duration and Work schedule:

  • The duration of this summer internship will be from about the end of May until the end of August.

  • The work schedule includes Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, forty-hours per week.

  • Tri-State offers a competitive pay rate for this position. The position is based at Tri-State's Headquarters at 1100 W. 116th Avenue, Westminster, CO 80234.
