Engineer Senior – Electrical Harness Design
Work with Electrical and Mechanical engineers, for the execution, design, fabrication, test, and integration of tactical non-space based Electrical Harness and Wiring Assembly projects.
What You’ll Do:
Responsible for system-level harness design with prime focus on power distribution and circuit compatibility.
Perform detail analysis on interface control specifications to meet program requirements.
Work closely with PWB packaging, layout, and harness engineers.
Help to define and implement test and verification methodology for system level compatibility.
Lead resolution of hardware anomalies root cause and corrective action at harness-level.
Interface with product teams, program managers, manufacturing, procurement, and certified technicians throughout the product lifecycle.
Ensure timely deliverables required to maintain program schedules.
Work on tactical applications
Utilize design software such as AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Visio.
Utilize configuration management tools for the release of drawings.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Familiarity with analog electronic circuit design, electronic systems, as well as harness derating.
Experience designing a system of harnesses in a tactical environment.
Strong MS Excel background is required.
AS50881 experience and familiarity with electronic packaging for MIL-STD-461 compliance is a plus.
IPC/WHMA-A-620 knowledge and experience is a plus.
Electrical schematic drawing preferred, 3D electrical routing is required.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, and ability to work with internal and external customers.
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
