  • Fully qualified and experienced professional mineralogist.

  • Characterizes minerals and solids in ore samples, metallurgical products, and other materials using XRD, XRF, SEM, and optical methods, and writes company reports.

  • Has considerable latitude for independent judgement, actions, and decision, and has full professional competency.

  • Employees must comply with regulatory health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures and the Company's environmental compliance policy.

  • Employees will perform other duties as directed and needed by the Company to ensure optimal safe operation.

Essential Duties

  • Characterizes minerals and solids in ore samples, metallurgical products, and other materials using XRD, XRF, SEM, and optical methods, and writes company reports.

  • Manages preparation of samples for XRD, XRF, SEM, SEM/MLA and petrography

  • Manages the work schedule, prioritizes project work, and ensures customers have received characterizations in a timely response

  • Trains technicians in sample preparation and operation and maintenance of mineralogical testing instruments

  • Trains and mentors mineralogists and technicians in interpretation of data and preparation of reports

  • Manages preparation of mineralogical reports and interfaces with field personnel on results and findings

  • Manages all SEM and SEM/MLA operation and is expert in interpretation and reporting

  • Interacts and manages service agreements with instrument vendors to ensure equipment availability

  • Maintains knowledge of the state of the art equipment and capabilities for mineralogical characterizations and prepares written summaries and recommendations for continuous improvement in capability and efficiency.

  • Position may be required to travel to other domestic and international sites, including field exploration and active mining operation sites.

Training & Experience

  • BS or MS degree in Geology or related field knowledge of geological or, geochemical principles.

  • Typically has more than 6 years of industry experience in a mining or metallurgical processing experience
