Whether we’re here at our headquarters or Origin sourcing beans, leaves, cacao, or spice...we are mission driven — committed to offering quality products grown in sound social conditions and wholeheartedly supporting sustainable farming practices.We are looking for people to join our team who feel the same and want to contribute to the continuing success of producing the finest coffee, tea and spice in the world!Under general supervision, the Roasting ATL performs all roaster operator functions to include scheduling, loading hoppers according to established formulas, monitor roasters and making adjustments, conduct quality tests and tastings, enter daily production roasts, trains and oversees the work of other roaster operators.


  • Oversees roaster operation, scheduling, and directs roaster operators in daily work assignments.

  • Communicates and informs Roasting Team Leader/Roastmaster of daily activities and issues.

  • Acts as back up in scheduling all roasts in Roasting Team Leaders absence to ensure smooth production flow and to meet inventory requirements.

  • Interfaces and coordinates roast scheduling with production staff.

  • Set up the roaster using established procedures as guidelines and making adjustments as needed.

  • Ability to load green coffee into hoppers to be transferred into roaster.

  • Basic understanding of how to monitor each roast, making adjustments to the roaster settings as needed to ensure quality.

  • Ability to prepare various coffee blends according to established formulas.

  • Transfer of roasted coffee to appropriate production stations (bagging and grinding) to ensure efficient work flows.

  • Notify subsequent production stations of roasted coffee status (variety, amounts, special instructions, etc.).

  • Participate in establishing roasting quality standards.

  • Understanding of how to conducts quality tests on all roasts using the Agtron roast analyzer or Cropster.

  • Participate in regular coffee tastings to ensure quality standards.

  • Train new team members as required.

  • Able to perform all data entry functions. Also able to make any changes or adjustments in the system as needed.

  • Clean and perform regular maintenance on Roasters and other equipment in the Roasting area per maintenance schedules and as directed by Roasting Team Leader/Roastmaster

  • Sets up and maintains roaster documents and procedures.

  • Perform all related job duties as required.

  • Ensure compliance with all issued policies and procedures documented in the Allegro Operating Manuals and Regulatory requirements, including SQF, GMP, HACCP, FDA OSHA as well as any local/state/federal requirements.

  • For SQF purposes, this position being part of Management & Operations is considered a High level of Responsibility with the back-up position of Roastmaster.


Individual must have previous experience in production environment with flexibility to meet changing production schedules and job assignments without close supervision.

  • Must be able to read and understand operator manuals.

  • Ability to learn basic knowledge of all coffee roasting profiles, and quality standards for Allegro Coffee through close partnership with Sourcing team.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in leading or motivating work groups or teams.

  • Excellent mechanical skills to troubleshoot and support roasters for full operation to minimize downtime.

  • Ability to learn and perform all necessary data entry/production scheduling tasks and make adjustments as needed.

  • Excellent math skills and experience on the computer.

  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position such as standing and walking, bending and stooping daily in addition to the ability to lift up to 100 pounds throughout work day.

  • Must demonstrate flexibility to meet quickly changing production schedules and job assignments that may involve extended or overtime hours.

  • Ability to work well with others in a team oriented environment.

  • Individual must have a strong interest in coffee tasting.
