The NOALS team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as an Engineering Manager based out of Schriever AFB, in Colorado Springs, CO.
What You'll get to Do:
You will work with other NGMS employees and our subcontractors in a dynamic, multi-discipline environment in direct support to an operational satellite ground system. You will use systems engineering methods and tools to accomplish customer/contract goals and support program management in development, enhancement, and maintenance of the operational baseline.
The Engineering Manager supervises all aspects of engineering as part of an O&M contract; responsibilities include oversight of: Software Development, Systems Engineering Integration and Test, Facilities Management, IT, Logistics, CM/DM, and Interface Communications. The Engineering Manager works under the supervision of the Program Manager and serves with the Director of Operations as a member of the PMO, providing overall program management and direction, and program status to the PRA. The position will lead and manage approximately 50 engineers from multiple companies in all activities related to the sustainment of Government baseline systems and facilities.
The Engineering Manager actively partners with the Government Director of Engineering and COTR to provide engineering solutions relative to ongoing system sustainment and evolution/recapitalization projects to minimize risk to ongoing operations. The Engineering Manager coordinates with the Government customer and PMO to ensure sustainment needs and priorities are continually being met and are consistent with Government and operational priorities. The position leads efforts to: coordinate translation of operational needs into sustainment requirements, identification of and implementation of material solutions, integration and verification of solutions, and control of the baseline. The Engineering Manager will also serve as the acting Program Manager as required.
Bachelors or Master's degree in a STEM related field; experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
15 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 13 Years with Masters
Experience leading engineering teams, and be able to interface effectively with users, customers, management, and other engineering personnel
Experience with project management and budget execution
Experience writing proposals, BOEs, WBS, and related material in support of developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP)
Experience in executing the Engineering project life cycle, including: requirements analysis, design, hardware and/or software development, integration, test, sustainment, and evolution
Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain or maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Experience with space and satellite support programs
Interaction with Government customers regarding military space operations and TT&C systems/domain
Ability to use and explain architectural concepts to a Government customer
Experience in evaluating viability of vendor and Government provided HW/SW as part of technology/product trade studies, as well as the development and review of processes and procedures
Knowledge and experience implementing systems in a virtualized environment
Experience with software development activities, including agile development
Knowledge of the NRO, the AFSCN, and NRO Comm systems and topology
Familiarity with real-time, critical systems
Critically minded to troubleshoot system and determine root cause
Current TS/SCI with Poly
