Position: Electrical EngineerDuties: The Electrical Engineer oversees electrical activities for allTijeras Plant projects including design, construction, maintenance,specifications and purchase of electrical or electronic equipment. Performstrouble-shooting at plant site. Conducts investigations and recommends ordesigns improvements for energy conservation programs and cost reductions.Monitors state of the art technology and provides pertinent training tooperatoMain Objectives: Designs or redesigns power distribution systems. Designs or redesigns control systems, evaluating the benefits of automation. Obtain all necessary permits as they relate to construction and/orenvironmental issues; Assure compliance with provisions of variousFederal, State and County environmental permits; maintain environmentalpermits and attend hearings, as necessary. Prepare, assemble and evaluate bid packages for electrical projects. Establishes specifications for the purchase of electric equipment andinstallation/construction of same. Prepares cost estimates and economic justification of capital electricalprojects. Develop an energy usage monitor program and evaluate methods to conserveenergy. Provide necessary training for the on-site operators. Assists in analyzing and troubleshooting electrical problems at projectsites. Maintains a positive relationship with energy suppliers and gives input andadvice on power contractual agreements at the various project sites. Confers and exchanges information with vendor responsibilities, engineersand consultants relative to electrical projects. Maintains an adequate record of all project electrical system drawings anddirects the work to keep drawings current. Oversees electrical work done by outside contractors and makes therecommendation for the selection of the contractor. Keeps abreast of developments in the electrical and electronic field byreviewing technical literature and attending appropriate engineeringconferences and seminars. Ensures outside contractors comply with verifications tests andinvestigates contractor's reports to technical problems to ensure projectprogresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.Qualifications: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree. Minimum of 5-10 years engineering experience in maintenance programs andoperational efficiencies. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Electrical knowledge: Basic plant electricity, electrical safety powerfactor, one-line diagrams, load balance, grounding systems,application and types of motors Computer skills to include MS office, and SAP.
