BSC is seeking an Environmental Technician to be responsible for implementingpolicies and programs in support of environmental initiatives ensuringeffective and efficient compliance with local, state, and federalregulations and agencies. This position will primarily support the BSC Meadfacility but will also provide support to the BSC Longmont facility as needed.The Environmental Technician will work days Monday-Friday and every 3rdweekend; on those days, the Technician will work at least 4 hours each onSaturday and Sunday (and these hours are likely to qualify for overtimepay). Level is commensurate with experience.Boulder Scientific Company is an Equal Employment Opportunity EmployerJob Responsibilities*Develops and implements site specific environmental policies and programs inaccordance with regulatory and company guidelines*Supports compliance with the following environmental regulatory programs:*Air*EPCRA/TRI*Waste management (RCRA/Solid Waste/DOT)*Water/Wastewater (CWA, SPCC, Wastewater treatment, Stormwater)*Emergency response*TSCA*Promotes a safe working environment and increases safety awareness*Inspects facility to identify existing or potentially hazardous conditionsand potential non-compliance risks*Recommends and implements corrective/preventive measures to reduce risk*Reviews environmental data/information for quality, accuracy, andcompliance with regulatory requirements*Manages shipments and transfers of hazardous waste including, but notlimited to, containers and bulk loads*Transfers waste water, waste solvents, and other waste s betweentanks, drums, and shipping containers using pumps, pressure, and otherequipment*Handles drums, buckets, and other containers of hazardous andnon-hazardous materials as products or waste:*Combines partial drums to ensure all waste drums 90% full for shipping*Physically handles (scoops, shovels, buckets) wastes as needed*Repackages wastes for shipment to drum disposal facilities*Cleans drums for shipment to drum disposal facilities*Pumps wastes to tankers as needed*Maintains the hazardous waste accumulation area(s) in a clean andorderly condition*Labels hazardous waste containers in accordance with RCRA regulations*Prepares hazardous waste manifests and schedules waste shipments*Supports profiling of waste streams*Conducts regular and periodic housekeeping... follow job link for completeinformation.RequirementsQualifications*High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required*Must pass a job-related pre-employment physicalExperience*Must have Chemical Operator-related experience and/or training*Must have previous hazardous material experience and/or equivalentcombination of education and experience*Proficient with in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, andExcel*Must be able to travel in own vehicle between Mead and Longmont sites*Previous experience with EHS data management software is a plus*Industrial manufacturing experience preferredWork EnvironmentThis employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequentlylift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move upto 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee isfrequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionallyexposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles,toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. This positionfrequently requires the use of PPE including a respirator.
