WATER QUALITY GROUP Danaher`s Water Quality Business is a global leader in water quality analysis and treatment, providing instrumentation and disinfection systems to help analyze and manage the quality of ultra-pure water, portable water, wastewater, groundwater and ocean water in residential, commercial, industrial, and natural resource applications. Our water quality business provides products under a variety of brands, including HACH, ChemTreat, and Trojan Technologies.
The Senior Director of R&D is passionate about seeing Hach’s vision realized by creating a culture where innovation and collaboration yield world class results. They are enthusiastic about building, improving and sustaining best practices that drive break through technologies – that are customer focused and designed with quality at the forefront. They will lead a talented team of experts (approximately 100 associates) across a variety of disciplines responsible for delivering business priorities for new product development, sustaining efforts, product compliance and organizational development.

Essential Functions * Demonstrated experience setting a strategic vision and objectives for a dynamic engineering team * Leads organizational talent development through organizational reviews, performance reviews, development plans, merit recommendations and capacity planning. * Develops associates and leaders in the R&D organization through a passion for coaching, modeling, and ensures robust development plans for successors. * Ensures teams are considering the use of leading edge technology and keeping pace with revolutionary and innovative trends in their fields. * Development gate sign off for R&D on New Product Development Projects for their site. * Collaborates across global development sites to ensure that the teams are leveraging common technologies, best practices, and processes. * Ensures design compliance is followed to all applicable standards such as ISO, FDA, UL/CSA, ROHS, GHS etc. * Communicates and implements business vision and strategies into the team by linking business strategy to specific functional responsibilities through roadmaps, organizational town halls and regular staff communications. * Represent cross-functional department interests effectively both internally and externally. * Strong financial background in developing business cases, budgeting, scenario analysis * Observes and removes roadblocks and resolve potential issues and empowers leaders within their team to do the same. * Skilled in estimating work efforts and coaching others on accurate estimating and project planning. Ensures work load is balanced for associates between project and functional commitments. * Sponsors efforts to identifies problems and develop improved work flows to improve R&D and broader business operations. * Other duties as assigned. * BS degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry. MS or PhD desired. * Minimum of 7 or more years of direct relevant progressive experience in leading multi discipline research and development teams. * Direct experience leading cross functional teams both through influence and directly. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity where the candidate is managing through other leaders. * Demonstrated capability leading global initiatives with associates outside their scope of authority. * Experienced in Intellectual property strategy. * Strong working knowledge in several key areas product development processes including stage gate processes, systems engineering, verification and validation, chemistry, electrical, mechanical, test, firmware, and optics engineering. * Strong working knowledge of LEAN Principles.
