Sierra Nevada Corporation Engineering Technician (Orbital Welder) Lead (Contract) 2nd in Louisville, Colorado

We are seeking an Engineering Technician with an Associate's degree in arelated field of study, at least 10 years of relevant experience, and 2years of experience in a lead role. In this challenging, fast-pacedenvironment, you'll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge andexperience to directly support production operations teams in the design andcreation of the most groundbreaking aerospace and defense technologies - thosethat exist today and those that will shape tomorrow. What to look forwardto: As an Engineering Technician, you will be using your skills andexpertise to perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical,electromechanical, and/or optical areas. You'll be responsible forconstructing, troubleshooting, calibrating, testing, and maintainingour equipment, components, devices, or systems. You'll ensure oursystems and components meet established specifications.At SNC's Space Systems Group (SSG) we are not only the creator of theDream Chaser spacecraft, but also the designer and manufacturer of rocketengines and components, systems that sustain life in deep space, as wellas systems and satellites that improve life here on Earth. The work of ourSpace Systems team not only supports the U.S. government (includingNASA), but also commercial customers and international organizations.Primary Responsibilities include:Leads training development within the groupWorks with the program to help support production scheduleUnderstands drawings, executes building and testing of flight hardware alongwith troubleshooting activitiesCompletes parts lists, checks drawings, generates and processesengineering/document change requests, notices, and/or orders and othergeneral engineer tasking with direction from EngineersWork includes, but is not limited to, dismantling, repairing,fabricating, assembling and erecting aircraft componentsAssists as required during inspection verification ormodification/maintenance proceduresHas extensive experience with general shop tools (drills, reamers, drilljigs, clecos, nut plates, rivets, grinders, hi-lock fasteners andcomposi-locksHas extensive knowledge of cutting and drilling carbon fiber and titaniumMechanically sound and motivatedDesign and fabrication of GSE and toolingExperienced in liquid shimming and bonding processesSubstantial use of basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, heightgauges)Experience with cranes and critical liftingExperience with forklifts, stackers and air castersMust-haves:Associate's degree in a related field of study, at least 10 years ofrelevant experience, and 2 years of experience in a lead roleA higher level degree may substitute for experienceRelated experience may be considered in lieu of required educationMust be willing to working 2nd shift (2:30pm-11:00pm)Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings,diagrams, schematics, and manualsOrbital welding experienceAbility to work with standard laboratory test equipment, other measurementequipment, hand tools, and power toolsPreferred:Previous experience and/or certifications within the aerospace and defenseindustryPrevious experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with AutoCAD or other 3-D CAD softwareThe ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be requiredIMPORTANT NOTICE:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S.citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual asdefined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the requiredauthorizations from the U.S. Department of State.At Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) we deliver customer-focused technologyand best-of-breed integrations in the aerospace and defense sectors.
