AGEISS Inc Structural Engineer, NAVFAC, Norfolk, VA in Longmont, Colorado

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to provide on-site support at to the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) in Norfolk, VA.RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide independent, timely and professional structural engineeringisupport, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities development.Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.Typical projects will involve: calculation of environmental and blast loads; analysis and design of vertical and lateral force resisting system, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and utility supports; and design of structural elements using common building materials (concrete, steel and timber).iJOB REQUIREMENTS: Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of civil engineering structural is desirable.A minimum of five (5) yearsiof professional civil engineering - structural code compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, is required.Completion of a course of studies accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) for a civil engineering program from a college or university for a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering with emphasis in structural engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on facilities design experience, is required.Broad professional knowledge and practical application of civil/structural engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, construct and maintain a wide range of shore-based engineering projects.Knowledge of DoD and Navy guide specifications, criteria, policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to structural engineering design, including the International Building Code, and ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures).Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting structural engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR.Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to structural engineering design.Ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts.Ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies.Knowledge of budgeting, planning and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams.Knowledge of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance and use of personal protective equipment.Why AGEISS Inc.:AGEISS Inc. is a 32-year successful Federal consulting firm offering a full range of comprehensive employee benefits.About AGEISS Inc:AGEISS provides engineering, environmental, and advisory and assistance services to Federal agencies nationwide and overseas.
