Oracle Product Manager - Virtualization and Remote Desktop in Longmont, Colorado

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will specify, design and implement major changes to existing software architecture. Define project needs. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to ensure consistency, testability and portability across products in general.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

The Employee & Endpoint Services organization within Oracle IT will initiate a cloud based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) service for internal use by employees and contractors within Oracle. To cover this area, we need a virtualization expert who will play a leading role in designing, implementing and operating the service.


Product Manager - Virtualization and Remote Desktop

We offer a product manager position in the area of virtual desktop and virtual machine provisioning for internal use within Oracle. We are looking for an individual with extensive experience with Oracle s Virtualization technologies and Remote Virtual Desktop solutions. This includes theoretical knowledge about architecture, features, limitations, related 3rdparty technologies, but also recent practical hands-on experience with installation, configuration and integration. We expect the successful candidate to design a solution within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and to play a leading role in building and configuring the infrastructure. The technical guidance to additional system and application development resources within the team will be an essential part of the role.


  • Analyse business requirements, translate them into use cases and map them to possible virtualization technologies

  • Research financial implications of licensing and infrastructure usage to optimize cost

  • Present technology options and design desktop virtualization solutions based on use cases

  • Research possible security implications and ensure best possible data separation and protection

  • Install, integrate and configure Remote Desktop Service software in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

  • Design, install, integrate and configure an OCI based infrastructure for VM provisioning

  • Design a concept to cover system management, provisioning, license management and resource assignment tasks through automation or self-service tools.

  • Define APIs between system components and additional systems

  • Provide technical guidance to other members of the team and help them with problem solving

  • Evolve the solution based on product roadmaps and industry standard technologies

  • Ensure stable operation after go-live, including the root cause analysis of issues and recurrence prevention.


  • Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree

  • Extensive experience with Oracle s Virtualization technologies like VirtualBox, OLVM and 3rdparty industry standard products

  • Extensive experience with Oracle Secure Global Desktop and 3rdparty technologies like Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Chrome Remote Desktop, etc.

  • Recent practical hands-on experience with installing configuring and integrating related products

  • Knowledge of OCI offerings supporting or complementing virtualization

  • Relevant OCI architecture experience/certification, e.g. OCI Architect Professional

  • Knowledge of MS Windows Server, Oracle Enterprise Linux or generic Unix

  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Linux or generic Unix

  • Knowledge of network security, authentication and authorization methods, SSL, SSO, LDAP

  • Willingness to establish communication channels in an international environment

  • Ability to apply a broad vision to solution design combined with solid analytical skills

  • UX centric thinking


  • Familiarity with MS Windows Server licensing

  • Programming skills in Python, C , PL/SQL, Java

  • Familiarity with configuration management and provisioning tools like Terraform, Chef

  • Familiarity with web application server technologies, like WebLogic, OHS, Apache, Node.JS
