We have an immediate opening for a Electro Optics, Scientist/Engineer this role can reside in Longmont, CO, Tucson, AZ, Huntsville, AL, or Arlington, VA. This is Regular Fulltime exempt, non-supervisory position.

Areté Associates is an employee-owned small business (ESOP) focused on advanced science and computational solutions to some of the most challenging technical problems faced by the United States.
This position will involve participation in business development activities, customer interaction and program management. Responsibilities will include participation in and supervision of all aspects of sensor and system development ranging from conceptualization to demonstration up through production support. The candidate will be a part of a team whose responsibilities include designing, building, and testing electro-optical sensors for a variety of applications. Both passive and active sensors are of interest. The position will entail participation in and oversight of design and specification of components and subsystems, design implementation as well as laboratory and field tests of the instrumentation. In addition, analysis of sensor performance, function, and data will be an important part of the job .
Primary responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will possess a broad background in electro-optical sensors and sensor systems, optics, radiometry, and a specialization in one of the following:
Program development, electro-optics system engineering, optical engineering, and mathematical modeling of physical systems.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of imaging systems, optics, detectors, lasers, signal processing hardware and supporting electronics is required.
Entrepreneurial and innovative individuals are preferred with a demonstrated track record of proposal writing and program capture.
US Citizenship required
Education: Ph.D., or MS with equivalent experience; EE, Physics, Optical Sciences, Applied Mathematics. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects
The candidate must be a US citizen able to obtain a security clearance.
Salary: DOE 112-120k Annually.
U.S. citizenship, background screen and drug test are required to meet position eligibility. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
