This makes us a strong innovation partner for clients in the aerospace, industrial, medical and dental sectors. _Job Summary_ The 3D Systems site in Littleton, Colorado is expanding rapidly and needs a skilled Application/Product Development Engineering Manager to lead the Application Development Engineering team under the direction of the Director of the Application Innovation Group. The mission of the Application Development Engineering team is to enable 3D System’s customer through application development engineering lifecycle from ideation through to final design transfer or technology transfer working primarily in medical device and industrial applications (such as aerospace, energy, transportation). As a versatile Applications Development Engineering Manager in the global Application Innovation Group team, you will focus on developing customer applications for additive manufacturing. Development goes from initial benchmark and feasibility studies through validation and verification processes prior to release to a design or technical transfer to volume manufacturing, either internal or external. In this job, you will not only cooperate with your Manufacturing, Quality and Applications Engineering colleagues world-wide but you can also rely on the knowledge and experience of colleagues from other 3D Systems divisions. You will lead a team of Application Engineers working in a cooperative engineering setting to drive excellence within the team and ultimately customer success. You will work closely with the Project Management Office to allocate resources, engage with customers and set internal teams up for success. _Performance Objectives_ The following performance objectives will determine job success for this position: * Develop Application Development Engineering Processes: o Remain current and proficient with US and international medical device and aerospace regulations. o Manage product realization and project management processes to deliver innovation quickly and with excellent quality. o Enforce Design Controls to ensure compliance and develop thorough, high quality, robust products and processes. o Develop and maintain product development and design transfer procedures. * Lead Application Development Engineering Efforts: o Manage the portfolio of active and pipeline development projects. o Participate in customer project meetings and lead efforts to translate and understand part, project, and validation/certification requirements. o Lead efforts for the development of documentation for the manufacture of product using industry standards and best practices. Ensure all documentation is implemented via the formal document control system. o Participate in the transfer of new projects into Manufacturing. Follow developed processes and projects through design transfer and into the first year of volume production. o Report progress and status of projects along with PMO on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to the Director of Application Innovation Group. * Supervise Application Development Engineering Team: o Supervise, direct, and mentor the efforts of the Application Development Engineering Team. Responsibilities include staffing, performance evaluations, and career development including setting employee objectives linked to business initiatives and other key performance indicators. o Oversee training of Application Development Engineering Team members for new employees and for employees affected by changes to the system. o Work directly with PMO, business development and quality/manufacturing management to triage new projects, help make business cases to support go/no-go decisions, and ultimately resource new projects across a wide variety of domains. /This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. It should be understood, therefore, that incumbents may be asked to perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly described./ Education and Training * Bachelor or Master degree in engineering or related field Experience * 7-10 years of related work experience in regulated, cGMP environment such as medical device, pharmaceutical or aerospace. * 3 years of direct management/supervisory experience required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems andfamiliarity with applicable federal, military, FDA, ISO and EN specifications. ISO 13485 and/or AS9100 required. * Ability to read and understand specifications across a number of products and materials. * Ability to analyze and develop engineering processes for use in advanced technology implementations. * Knowledge of testing equipment and applicable national standards relating to testing (i.e. ASTM standards, etc). Familiarity in operating all test and inspection equipment used in Quality. * Experience in preparing technical documentation. * A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service * Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills * Excellent computer skills * Proficient in CAD-software such as: 3DXpert, Magics, Solid Works * Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time * Excellent knowledge of English both written and spoken Compensation and Benefits * Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300 (salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data). * In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance. * 3D Systems offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage, company-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance, and company-paid basic life insurance.
