This position is located at the Henderson Mine, which is in an underground mine plant setting at an elevation of 10,800 feet above sea level. This may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
Under general supervision, performs detailed field surveys at assigned site.
Performs detailed field surveys and oversees the activities of field survey crews in performing the survey
Maintains accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed
Updates appropriate conventional and electronic (GIS) files
Researches previous survey evidence, maps, physical evidence and other records
Recommends methods and procedures for conducting assigned surveys
Prepares and presents findings to engineering and operational personnel
Performs other duties as required
Advanced training or education in surveying, mapping or a related field
One (1) year of surveying experience relevant to assignment
Knowledge of the principles and methods used in land surveys, including GIS/GPS mapping techniques
Knowledge of and skilled in the use of a variety of specialized equipment, tools and apparatus used in performing surveys, (e.g. stadia rods, lasers, GIS/GPS units)
Knowledge of surveying mathematics, field procedures, and operations
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
High School diploma or GED
Priorundergroundexperience as either a surveyor or general laborer
Proficiency with AutoCAD software;
Proficiency with Carlson survey/CAD software.
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day
May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
