The Gallegos Corporation Marble/Granite Fabricator in Gypsum, Colorado
Position Title: Fabricator Journeyman
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Location: Gypsum, Marble Shop
Reporting Relationship: Marble Shop Manager
Position Summary:
Fabricator Journeyman lays out, cuts and tools a variety of materials, including but not limited to marble and granite slabs according to project specifications in preparation for installation.
Essential Functions:
Work with the Shop Manager to read work orders to determine production and project specifications.
Examine materials, ingredients and products visually or with hands in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
Lay out and cut out sinks and tubs to specification.
Select appropriate tools and sequence of tools for shaping and edging according to project specifications
Hone, polish and grind material to specification
Shape, trim or touchup roughed-out designs with appropriate tools to finish carvings.
Ensure surfaces are smooth and finished to specification
Modify mixing, grouting, grinding or cleaning procedures according to type of installation or material used.
Wash polished surface and apply sealer and/or curing agent when appropriate and to specification.
Inspect and handle slabs to ensure quality is maintained throughout the fabrication and transportation of material.
Maintain all tools daily and make Shop Manager aware when tools need servicing.
Operate core drill safely and for appropriate procedures
Operate forklift and gravity clamp to move material safely
Advanced Techniques
- Program and Operate CNC machine per project specifications
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of equivalent work experience and/or trade school
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of all slab materials
Attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness
Conserves materials and meets productivity set forth by supervisors
Practices safe procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses and maintains equipment and materials properly.
