AECOM is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer 4 to be based in our Greenwood Village, CO location. The Engineer is responsible for perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.
Responsible for performing a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.
Perform design, development or review tasks in specific areas under close supervision.
Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review.
Assist in generation of specifications and engineering data.
Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondence.
Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Interface with customers in design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering or in a related discipline with 7 years of experience in an Engineering setting
Must be willing to become registered in fire protection by exam
Experience in major aspects of industrial fire protection and life safety, and major codes and standards, including: NFPA suppression system standards (water, foam, foam-water, gaseous) , NFPA alarm system standards (including air aspiration), DOE and DOD, API, ICC,FM Global Data Sheets
Special hazards, including:
Electric generating plants (hydroelectric, fossil fuels)
Facilities handling nuclear materials
Battery energy storage systems
Flammable and combustible liquids
LNG and LPG
Explosions and deflagrations
Must have experience with existing facility evaluations, Fire hazard and risk evaluations / analyses, Fire modeling, Life safety (NFPA, IBC/IFC, OSHA), Performance based design, Hydraulic analysis. Hydraulic analysis software (e.g., HASS, HydraCALC)
Must be familiar with Earned Value Measurement System (EVMS)
Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

- Familiarity with various CAD programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD (and HydraCalc)
