ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job description gives an overview of the overall essential functions, competencies, skills, and abilities for the Project Supervisor role. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Job Knowledge and Technical Skills:

    • Assure completion of entire project on time and obtain written customer acceptance of work; assure proper charge out of costs and close out of all projects

    • Determine job priorities and plan project work to ensure field personnel, material and equipment are on the job at the right time

    • Understand mechanical systems, appropriate codes and industry standards; obtain permits and plan checks when necessary

    • Provide current input and actively participate in regular review meetings on work progress, customer solutions, field relations, internal administration and other matters affecting service operations

    • Ability to coordinate project schedules with vendors and subcontractors

    • Report project status to Project Manager

    • Redeem assigned projects at planned costs; effectively manage and control equipment, materials, tool utilization and costs while ensuring effective field operations

    • Manage project schedules and timelines, identifying problems before they arise, negotiating solutions and communication to management

    • Know and apply principles of cost vs. benefit to gain maximum utilization of company resources

    • Effectively monitor work to assure we only do work required in contract documents

    • Accurately track changes to conditions or scope of projects which may require adjustments to billing and communicate changes to relevant individuals and departments

    • Audit technician work orders for completeness and accurate labor allocation

    • Manages equipment, materials and tool utilization for each job

    • Understands all scopes of work and effectively communicates to field personnel

    • Provide sales associates with leads and any alerts as warranted

  • Customer Service:

    • Promptly respond to customer calls/complaints and resolve problems quickly and efficiently while building and maintaining customer confidence

    • Act as primary customer contact for project activities; staffing and technical performance

    • Report customer relations activity affecting customer satisfaction, upgrading and positive long-term relationships to Project Manager and escalate procedures when necessary

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

    • Coordinate with Project Manager on items outside of scope and/or potential change orders

    • Builds rapport and productive working relationships with management and other supervisors, field, administrative and purchasing personnel internally

    • Communicate with staff and management regarding delays in job closings

  • Accountability:

    • Assist Project Manager with construction budgets: labor, subcontracts, and the purchasing of materials/equipment

    • Perform and audit daily pre task plans

  • Professional Development:

    • Keep technical knowledge up to date with respect to equipment and concepts

    • Gain familiarity with new products and techniques as they are introduced

    • Belong to and take advantage of technical organizations to improve knowledge

  • Staff Development:

    • Train new project technicians, apprentices and interns; mentor technicians on how to solve problems independently

    • Assist with Project Manager to ensure technical capabilities for field force is consistent with current contractual commitments; identify and recommend training to improve skills of staff, individually and as a team

    • Promote professionalism and pride in order to attract high quality employees; continually build and maintain a network of contacts

    • Ensure personal and team compliance with all safety and health rules and regulations; company policies/employee handbooks; contracting requirements; NEC, OSHA, State Labor Dept. policies, codes and guidelines

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Able to lift 75 lbs from floor to waist with possible repetition

Able to lift 50 lbs from shoulder to overhead

Able to work with both arms above head for minimum of 5 minutes

Able to carry 50 lbs for a distance of 25 feet

Able to push or pull 125 for a distance of 500 feet

Able to climb stairs and ladders

Able to carry 30 lbs while climbing stairs or a ladder

Able to grip and operate hand tools, powers tools and safety equipment, such as chain falls

Able to lift legs and step over obstacles up to 19 inches above the ground

Able to perform work while in varying physical positions, such as lying on side, in a kneeling position, while standing on a ladder

Able to access rooftop units and work at heights and in some cases tight or enclosed spaces

Able to wear a respirator if conditions require; may have exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials

Able to crawl for a distance of 200 feet

Able to stoop, crouch or kneel for up to 10 minutes at a time

Vision:

Correctable to 20/20 with no color blindness

Hearing:

Correctable to normal range
Required Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of commercial project installation; understands installation techniques and workflow; understands mechanical systems to ensure timely installation while minimizing disruptions to customer

  • Universal EPA Certification

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and currently maintain a safe driving record as required by the

    Company’s insurance provider

  • Certificate of Completion or Diploma with an accredited HVAC trade school or equivalent job experience

  • Strong HVAC knowledge and expertise, ductwork, piping, boilers, chillers, construction and quality control

  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and blueprints

  • Possess strong communication and organization skills

  • Familiarity with the following vertical markets; healthcare, data centers, assisted living, commercial office, industrial and power generation.
