DescriptionThe OpportunityUlteig is seeking a talented and motivated candidate for our open DistributionDesign position.The Distribution Designer position will support the PowerDistribution for an electric and gas distribution company located in theDenver area. The Distribution Designer will accurately evaluate options anddesign safe, cost effective, and reliable electrical distributionfacilities for residential, commercial, and other utility relatedprojects. This individual will support both Ulteig and client business goals.What You'll DoLearn our client's company standards, policies and procedures for thedevelopment of site designs for electrical distribution facilities which servea variety of customersCreate field design using client standards to layout overhead and undergrounddistribution facilitiesConduct office design work to support the field designTrain and mentor less experienced designersPrepare site drawings and construction sketches for various installations ofelectrical distribution facilities in a cost-effective manner that maximizessafety and service reliabilityPrepare job packages including material estimates and material requisitions ofthe materials required for the prepared distribution electrical designsProperly apply distribution reliability principals for each design ensuring asafe and cost effective design and installationEvaluate loading of various distribution equipment being installed to ensure acost-effective, safe, and reliable designMaintain accurate records and files and update the appropriate client systemsWhat We Expect from YouPrevious experience in an electric utility fieldTwo-year degree in engineering technology or a related technical experienceExperience with ESRI GIS products, O-calc, or AutoCADExperience with field spatial data collection equipment is a plusDemonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clientsand external agencies along with the ability to deal with a variety ofindividuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgroundsExcellent verbal/written communications skillsMust be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work inhigh-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitudeKnowledge of distribution standards, policies and procedures for thedevelopment of site designs for electrical distribution facilities that servea variety of customersDevelop relationships with internal and external customers, builders anddevelopers, home owners, electricians, other utilities, and cityofficials as needed in the execution of client job responsibilitiesPossess a valid driver's license and vehicle suitable for business use(mileage reimbursement applies)Must have authorization to work permanently in the USWhat You Can Expect from UlteigFor 75 years, we've built a culture focused on people - both our clientsand our employees.
