Weld County Government Engineer I - Development Review in Greeley, Colorado

Days and hours will vary, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, paid monthly.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Two years of experience working as an engineer performing similar dutiesto those listed above OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Required to have valid Colorado driver's license by time of hire. E.I. Certification in the State of Colorado is preferred. Knowledge of using Civil3D to design and produce project plans andprofiles. Proficiency in using Excel, Word, Access, Adobe Acrobat,PowerPoint, Civil3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and other commonly used software. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of developmentreview, with knowledge of understanding and interpreting code and policy. Ability to organize and analyze information, formulate substantiverecommendations and present them concisely. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form, throughpublic presentations and written reports. Knowledge of typical ditch company operations. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, andprocedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to management, publicgroups, and/or boards. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, andproportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concretevariables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written andoral form. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Majority of the time will be spent in an office environment withoccasional field trips and field work.Duties: Entry-level, full-time Engineer I within in the EngineeringDivision of the Public Works Department. Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce plan sets for Public Works projects. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for Public Work projects. Write and review drainage reports associated with Public Works andDevelopment Review projects. Review traffic studies and the impact of development on transportationsystems and recommend improvements, Case management of multiple types ofdevelopment submittals with an emphasis on Public Works/Engineering reviewand inspection. Write improvements agreements to be presented to the Board of CountyCommissioners. Design Public Works projects using Civil3D and common modeling software. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using common modeling softwaresuch as HEC-HMS, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HY-8. Review plans sets, reports, such as drainage and traffic studies producedby other engineers and recommends approval or improvements to documents. Work requires independent evaluation, selection, and application ofstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgmentand ingenuity in making minor adaptations and modifications. Work and communicate (oral and written) at a highly effective level withthe staff, Commissioners, County and outside agencies, constructioncontractors, and the public. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must be able to interact with County employees and the public in aneffective manner. All work is reviewed by a supervisor or professional engineer. Perform other duties as assigned.
