Job Description

Successful candidates will collaborate on a multi-institutional project focused on Secure Biosystems Design through the development of novel biocontainment approaches.

This position will specifically focus on implementing novel synthetic biology based approaches in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead on a project targeting development and deployment of genetic safeguards in yeast including high-throughput genome engineering and microbial phenotyping.

Basic Qualifications

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Additional Required Qualifications

Candidates must display an ability to maintain a well-organized lab notebook and communicate scientific results effectively. Successful candidates are also expected to possess strong scientific writing skills, as demonstrated with a strong publication track record, and the capacity to contribute to internal reports, manuscripts, and funding opportunity proposals.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or a closely related field conferred by the position start date. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in:

• Fundamental understanding of yeast genetics, cultivation and cellular physiology.

• Molecular cloning and associated techniques including PCR, plasmid design, DNA isolation and editing, and genetic transformation.

• Experience in metabolic engineering, library generation, recombinant DNA technologies, and biochemical detection methodologies.
