Postdoctoral position in Biochemistry/Enzymology
CO - Golden
Postdoc (Fixed Term)
Hours Per Week
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's primary laboratory for research, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The Biosciences Center at NREL has an opening for a full time Postdoctoral Researcher. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal.
The successful candidate will focus on the characterization of enzymes with an emphasis on redox enzymes to reconstruct natural and non-natural metabolic pathways for the cell free production of biochemicals. The successful candidate will also focus on studying these enzymes and pathways when immobilized on conductive materials. Characterization of enzymes will include measurements of substrate specificity, kinetics, and inhibition. The study of these enzymes will also require good knowledge of bioelectrochemistry. The successful candidate will work directly with a multidisciplinary team of researchers working towards designing novel metabolic pathways for cost effective production of bioproducts.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
Advanced experimental enzymology (ITC, EPR, Kinetics, Stopped-flow)
Analytical skills (HPLC, MS)
Experience in structural biology and protein biophysics preferred
Knowledge of bioelectrochemistry
Experience with cell free protein expression systems
Experience with protein expression in HEK cells, insect cells, or alternate expression systems
Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any position at NREL you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified.
