Design Engineer II
Position Summary: The Design Engineer II has experienced supporting a structural engineering group and is capable of completing under minimal supervision a variety of structural analyses, site visits, and mapping reports, as well as the development of standards, tools, and software to improve the quality and efficiency of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

Completes new design and modification calculations while working alongside the CAD design team for installation and fabrication details. This work is completed under direct supervision of the project engineer.
Determine overstress components of structures and recommend reinforcement solutions to the Project Engineer.
Create and maintain project management tools used to monitor the progress of projects consisting of multiple departments and deliverables on small scale projects.
Coach, mentor, and motivate Design Engineer I.
Complete analysis and reports for communication structures including but not limited to steel telecom towers, wooden poles, utility towers, foundations, mounts, and existing buildings under supervision of project engineers.
Complete site visits along with mapping reports detailing existing site construction and proposed design constraints
Will perform Field Engineer duties when on job sites.
Continue industry education and knowledge on an ongoing basis
Review work of peers to provide constructive criticism and ensure superior work quality

Education, Certificates and Licenses:
Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or similar- emphasis on structural engineering preferred.
2-4 years engineering experience, preferably in the telecom industry.
Customer relations experience
Travel: This position is generally expected to require overnight travel at 10%. The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn other software as necessary. Proficient with Risa 3D, MathCAD, TNX Tower, L-Pile, and Caisson programs. Training can be provided for candidate’s proficient with analysis and computational software. Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office environment and an outdoors construction or service environment with the ability to work in adverse weather conditions (extreme heat or cold) may be conducted during daylight and nighttime hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must put on and use personal protective, fall prevention, and fall arrest equipment and will frequently sit talk or hear, and will occasionally stoop, kneel, and with or use hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. This position requires climbs of up to 100 to 400 feet. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
