Position Summary:- The CAD Designer is responsible for supporting wireless site plan designs and drafting needs.- They will use expert AutoCAD skills to prepare detailed drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of architectural designs.

Duties and Responsibilities: -The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

  • Provide Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CADD) support and documentation of engineering activities using AutoCAD software.

  • Drafter/Designer to follow the general instructions and directions of an engineer or project manager.

  • Create or modify drawings with extreme attention to detail, with the utmost quality and at a fast pace.

  • Ensure drawings and calculations comply with applicable standards and jurisdictional requirements, with requirements outlined by Project Manager, and with client requirements

  • Review own work and make initial corrections before forwarding drawings and/or calculations for final check

  • Prepare engineering drawings packages of moderate and high complexity for the design and construction of new and existing communications sites based on existing drawings, site visits and field red-lined documents

  • Perform field inspections of sites located locally and out of state may be required

  • Perform plan design and drafting, utilizing site information provided by project managers as well as information found through online jurisdictional and mapping resources.

  • Review own work and make initial corrections before forwarding drawings and/or calculations to Director AE or Project Manager for final check.

  • Ensure adequate specifications are available so design can be verified to those specifications by those responsible for drawing approval.

  • Review drafting staff-s work, mark-up and return for rework to ensure accuracy of drawings before forwarding to A/E Manager or Project Manager.

  • Ensure drawings and calculations comply with applicable standards and jurisdictional requirements, with requirements outlined by Project Manager, and with client requirements.

  • Utilize internal and online research and data tools as needed to obtain information necessary to provide complete and accurate drawings.

  • Coordinate with A&E Manager to ensure production timelines are met.

  • Work with A/E Manager to effectively utilize drafting resources to manage workload.

  • Participate on regional AE status calls.

  • Travel to various work site and office locations for data collection activities as required.

  • Operate Autodesk AutoCAD with a high level of competency.

  • Communicate effectively, timely and respectfully via phone, email and face to face with field project managers to obtain information and clarification.

  • Mentor and train other drafting staff, and aid in production of supporting documentation.

  • Tracker upkeep for assigned projects as well as AE team maintenance.

  • Assist in detailing and modification of process and work flow, team tools, and templates.

  • Other duties as identified and assigned.

Competencies, Education, and Experience:

  • Minimum Associates Degree in drafting or design (entry level).

  • Preferred 1-2 years using AutoCAD in a business setting with an emphasis on wireless and commercial projects preferred.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.

  • Civil construction, architectural, structural or electrical experience or knowledge helpful.

  • Self-motivated and directed, able to work equally well alone or as part of a project team.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills to provide effective, timely and respectful communication with all project stakeholders.

  • Motivation to learn and willingness to take instruction.

  • Ability to travel;

  • Valid state-issued driver-s license

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn other software as necessary.

Travel:- This position is not generally expected to require overnight travel.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:-The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit talk or hear, and will occasionally stoop, kneel, and use hands and arms.
