Provides direct and ongoing agile leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements and updates.
Manages headcount and commitments for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that objectives, results, metrics and timelines are clear and met in accordance with product and organizational roadmaps.
Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency opportunities.
Acts as the team’s scrum master and champion, communicates status, removes impediments, escalates issues to other managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.
Provides emotionally intelligent people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development. Invests in understanding and assessing strengths and weaknesses to build on team member strengths. Ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member development.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s university degree or equivalent quantifiable work experience required
Advanced university degree desired
Typically 5 or more years of related Software development work experience , including 2 or more years of people management experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong leadership skills including coaching, active listening, team-building, and conflict resolution.
Agile Development skills, including Scrum and Scrum Master, agile development knowledge and continuous integration execution.
Knowledge of traditional project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
Familiarity with object oriented software principles and one or more of the following: Java, GO, Scala, Python, C/C++, C#/.NET
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to manage people across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, partnership, presentation, and influence skills.
Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
Strong prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to discern and act accordingly when presented with healthy levels of change and disruption vs. counter-productive levels of disorganization.
Strong communication skills (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English language.
Solid understanding of the company's policies and processes.
