Brief Posting Description
Tri-State is an electric power utility providing electricity to rural electric cooperatives. We have an Engineering Intern vacancy available for the 2020 summer in our Transmission Maintenance Technical Support group. Engineering students who have successfully completed three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program are encouraged to apply. Electrical Engineering seniors who will be graduating in December or are planning to attend graduate school in the fall are also encouraged to apply.
This summer position offers an engineering student hands on opportunities to assist with special projects related to Transmission Maintenance of power transmission facilities.
Work scope and expected outcomes:
The intern will work with individual team members on various projects including database analytics, data verification and reporting on activities and maintenance of transmission facilities.
Expected Outcomes: Gain knowledge and experience with Tri-State Transmission facilities maintenance related database analytics and related data verification.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a variety of people; strong verbal and written communications skills; strong organizational skills; strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Strong computer software skills, including the Microsoft Suite. GIS knowledge or experience.
INTERNSHIP DURATION AND WORK SCHEDULE:
- The duration of this summer position will be from about the end of May until the end of August (flexible depending on the student's start/end of semester). The work schedule is Monday through Friday, forty hours/week.
- Position is based at Tri-State's Northern Colorado Maintenance Center (NCMC), Frederick, CO.
