Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity within our Fort Collins office as a/n geotechnical laboratory technician.

Responsibilities :

As a staff technician the candidate will primarily perform geotechnical laboratory testing in Tetra Tech’s Fort Collins geotechnical laboratory. Geotechnical laboratory testing may include unit weight and water content, particle size distribution (with and without hydrometer), Atterberg limits, specific gravity, consolidation/swell tests, Proctors, and other tests to evaluate the engineering properties of soils. The candidate will enter field borelog data and laboratory test results into gINT software (Bentley systems), or equivalent, before ultimately finalizing the borelogs based on laboratory test results and input from senior staff.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, details such as sample quality, laboratory progress, and progress issues with the laboratory manager during testing. The ability to independently develop a laboratory testing schedule based on field borelogs, samples, and knowledge of the project site is preferred. Additional tasks may include spreadsheet calculations, cost estimating, computer modeling, and other engineering support tasks as requested by the laboratory manager and senior engineering staff.

Experience with geotechnical investigations, construction quality assurance testing, construction oversight, geotechnical laboratory testing, gINT software (and other geotechnical software), is preferred.



The candidate must be able to work independently, should be a high school graduate and have completed college coursework in civil engineering, the geosciences, or a related field, or have equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must be proficient in spreadsheet applications and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

Degree Requirements :

HS diploma is required. BS in civil engineering, geosciences, or a related field is preferred.
