Microsoft Hardware is continuing to develop exciting consumer electronic devices.We are a growing team developing ground-breaking hardware, software and experiences across computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, image and video processing.
We are looking for an optical engineer proficient in design, test and implementation of IR camera system for high volume consumer electronic products including Hololens.
•Imaging lens derivation of specifications and requirements per system requirements
•Illumination diffuser design for IR based applications in consumer form factor products
•Understanding of laser-based applications for illumination
•Design and modeling using Zemax and FRED
•Optical metrology to characterize camera and system relationships with tradeoff studies
•Perform in a fast-paced product development environment across different functional teams
•BS or higher Engineering students majoring in Optics with mechanical aptitude
•5+ years of industry experience
•Software: Zemax, Light tools, FRED, Matlab, Ansys Strong skills in documentation: test reports, procedures, design packages.
•Develop manufacturing processes in support of design goals into consumer products locally and at off shore vendor sites
•Illumination design and validation/test using LED and Laser sources with hands on profiling of diffusors and lasers
•Prefer lab skills in validation and data processing of optical tests and develop test tools
•Collaborate with Manufacturing, Electrical, & Mechanical Engineering teams and offshore suppliers while building on company processes
•Willing to travel up to 20%
•The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated engineer able to quickly learn and understand high level requirements in order to react to a variety of changing inputs.
•We are a small team with a great deal of interaction across engineering disciplines, the ideal candidate will be expected to contribute directly with minimal direction or supervision.
