Description of Work Unit

CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU. CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations.

Position Summary

A GIS Analyst position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands. This position is in support of the Fort Wainwright Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) located at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska.

Required Job Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Geography or Natural Resources with GIS emphasis or closely related field.

  • More than 3 years of post-baccalaureate work experience in GIS.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ArcGIS software.

  • Demonstrated project management experience.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • MA/MS degree in Geography or Natural Resources with GIS emphasis or closely related field.

  • Demonstrated skills in GIS database development, ArcGIS Geodatabases, ArcGIS Spatial Database Engine (SDE) and Spatial Data Standard Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE).

  • Demonstrated experience working with GIS applications in natural resources management, digital cartography, and with the military.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ensure that GIS data meets Army standards and requirements. Create and update required GIS data layers, field data collection (GPS), digitizing and rectifying aerial photography. Create maps and conduct database analysis in support of ITAM, natural and cultural resources projects. Provide GIS products and information for reports and presentations, map development and production.
