Summary: TheResearch Scientistposition will support research for the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC). S/he will collaborate on formulating experimental hypotheses and designs experimental and other study protocols. S/he will develop necessary new technologies and protocols, processes and interprets experimental and other study data. S/he will coordinate with other technical and professional staff, prepare documents, written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and complete other projects as needed.

  • Lead and/or assist the development of research/clinical investigations/studies projects, and carry out those projects

  • Investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific methodologies and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.

  • In collaboration, formulate experimental hypotheses and design experimental and other study protocols.

  • Assist in developing necessary new technologies and protocols, processes and interprets experimental and other study data, coordinates with other technical and professional staff.

  • Prepare documents, written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and complete other projects as needed.

  • Provide collaborative assistance to other Research Scientists.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Ph.D or MD is related scientific discipline.

  • A minimum of 2 years of research experience required. Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care strongly preferred. Experience/background in psychological/behavioral health, rehabilitation medicine, traumatic brain injury, EEG, and electrophysiology highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques; ability to troubleshoot technical procedures; ability to work independently

  • excellent communication skills;

  • Excellent collaborative skills required.

  • May encounter patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive.

  • Must be available to travel locally, regionally and nationally
