Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a RANGE OPERATIONS MANAGER, Position Description Number D1130000 and is part of the CO CTC, National Guard.

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Range Operations Manager with responsibility for live fire training facilities and impact areas; serving as an advisor on all matters pertaining to the use of training center range facilities; and maintaining responsibility for the conduct and safe firing of live ordnance. Responsible for the timing, coordination, and safety of combined arms firing exercises which involves armed aircraft, maneuvering, mounted and dismounted types of indirect and direct fire. Plans, directs, and manages range activities. Reads and interprets regulations and directives pertaining to range operations and activities. Plans and schedules work, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares work schedules. Performs the duties of the director in their absence. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Military Grades: W-1 thru O-2 Please advise: 1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume. Must have at least 36 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:

  1. Experience in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions.

  2. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations.

  3. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. 4. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.

Education

Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets 6 months Specialized Experience. Completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School, Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security Management Course and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month of education for two months of specialized experience.

  9. Per ARNG-HRH Policy Memorandum #10-39, mandatory Full Time Staff (FTS) training is required within a year of hire as a condition of employment in vacancy announcements for both Technician and Active Guard Reserve positions. Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full time positions or termination of their employment.

  10. Current COANG Technicians and AGRs hired for a position in which an MCR is required will remain in their current status unless/until the MCR is approved. In the event the MCR is not approved, they are accepting the position in their current status.
