Holcim (US) Inc. Engineering Manager in Florence, Colorado

Overview

PURPOSE

This position will be responsible for managing various capital projects at the LafargeHolcim Florence, CO cement plant – a large and complex cement manufacturing plant with a crushing plant, 1 raw grinding systems, 1 kilns, 2 cement mills, truck, rail loading systems.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas

  • Managing and reporting on projects

  • Project financials – budget, commitments, forecasting and cash flow

  • Completing and updating Project schedules for design, testing and implementation

  • Completing technical review of scopes

  • Manages Water Treatment Operations

  • Performs and directs design of new facilities and equipment for the plant including production systems, utilities and buildings.

  • Selects equipment and equipment components, materials of construction and methods of manufacturing and processing.

  • Identifies and analyzes problems with equipment and systems and designs corrections and modifications.

  • Evaluates equipment recommended by outside engineering consultants and the LafargeHolcim Corporate Technical Services Group.

  • Organizes, coordinates and manages complete design and construction projects either through the plant production and maintenance personnel or through engineering consultants and contractors.

  • Frequently makes the final decision in the selection of new equipment and in the type and design of equipment repairs that are of a highly technical nature. Utilizes design criteria for capital projects that include the TPM concepts of life cycle costing and early equipment management.

  • The Engineering Manager is charged with the responsibility to ensure that all capital spending and associated projects at the Portland Plant utilize the Corporation’s capital assets in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

Work closely with the Project clients including the plant manager, maintenance manager & production manager to coordinate Project activities with the operating cement plant.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree.

Field of Study Preferred:Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or other related Engineering degree

Required Work Experience: 5-7 years relevant work experience with industrial projects large project management. Experience with cement manufacturing plants desired.

Required Computer and Software Skills: Knowledge of SAP is a plus. Use of MS Project or other project management software is a plus.
