KLJ Engineer In Training II Structural - Vertical in Englewood, Colorado

DescriptionPosition PurposeThe Engineer in Training II is responsible to ensure fundamental engineeringbasics and KLJ engineering and design standards are applied independently.Position will work with project managers and engineers to ensure projectdeliverables continue to provide exceptional service to our clients. Positionwill be responsible to produce design, quality calculations, drawingsdevelopment, engineering reports, construction administration and otherproject deliverables.Essential Functions* Apply engineering principles and standards to individual project tasks* Utilize design software to apply fundamental engineering standards of design* Able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications* Able to draft construction and bidding documents in accordance withorganization and client processes* Construction observation/inspection* Ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards* Utilize effective written and oral communicationResponsibilities* Assist with elements of project design including calculation of quantitiesfor cost estimating and bidding purposes* Competent in software(s) associated with typical project requirements* Assist with planning, organizing and managing project elements* May lead design tasks under the direct supervision of a ProfessionalEngineer* Perform, and may lead, construction administration duties such asdocumenting activities, providing general oversight, and interacting withcontractors, sub-contractors and others.* Assist with preparation for and participation in public/client meetings* May serve as task lead on small scale projects with support from seniorstaff* Perform QA/QC reviews following established proceduresQualifications* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accreditedpost-secondary institution* Engineer-In-Training Certification* Must possess MS Office skills including Word and Excel* Design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation or other designsoftware* Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehiclesPreferences:* Design experience with RISA 3D or similar FEM software* Desire to pursue Professional Engineer licensure* Prior Engineering Consultant experienceRelationshipsThe EIT II is supervised by the Department Manager and will receive closesupervision and direction on project related tasks from the Engineer, SeniorEngineer, Principal Engineer or Project Manager.* This position completes specific, routine operations that include a fewseparate tasks and procedures.Hours and TravelThis position requires the individual work 40+ or more hours per week.
