The engineer will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to them. Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.
Work in a fast-paced environment and work under tight deadlines, while maintaining high quality standards
Prepare drawings and specification detailing the Electrical System designed
Prepare construction inspection and design reports and presentation materials
Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including document management and processing Submittals, RFI's and Change Orders
Support PM, senior designer and/or senior engineer in the on-going determination of project scheduling requirements, manpower requirements, and project budgets
Participate in internal and external meetings and document discussions
Gather information, interview stakeholders, makes studies, performs calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches as required
Perform routine tasks under general supervision using well-defined standards, procedures and codes
Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects
Perform product research; assist project team members with equipment selection and system research
Design new electrical systems or modifications to existing electrical systems to develop or improve them
Prepare and document Energy compliance calculations and forms
Select equipment and lighting systems for interior and exterior applications
Design and perform calculations for lighting systems and associated controls
Prepare electrical system analysis including load flow, short circuit, overcurrent coordination and arc flash hazard
Candidates fluent in written and spoken English required
Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required
7 years' Electrical design experience is required
Candidates must be a P.E., registered in Colorado
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing is required
Basic knowledge of electrical building systems is required
Basic knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines is required
Self-motivated personality with the ability to work collaboratively and independently as appropriate
Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment is required
Ability to effectively meet deadlines is required
Proficiency in power system analysis software (ETAP, PTW, etc.) is required
Experience in data center, power, UPS systems, generator systems and medium voltage distribution projects is preferred
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
