Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family

The Crew Chief inspects and repairs VF aircraft to ensure that they are airworthy, dispatchable and ready to support VF business requirements on a global scale.

The Crew Chief is primarily responsible for one specific aircraft but may perform maintenance activities on any aircraft in the VF Aviation fleet. They perform line maintenance including complex aircraft systems troubleshooting. They conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned aircraft in accordance with manufacturer and FAA-approved methods and techniques

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Performs required maintenance and oversees complex inspection activities on company operated aircraft in accordance with the manufacturer’s approved methods and techniques;

  • Performs inspections and repairs when required to keep the aircraft available to meet the schedule;

  • Troubleshoots complex aircraft systems to identify and rectify the source of reported problems;

  • Ensures that records of work performed are complete, current and accurate;

  • Ensures that assigned activities are completed in a safe and responsible manner;

  • Secures resources necessary to complete assigned maintenance activities;

  • Stays informed and aware of all aircraft technology requirements;

  • Ensures that Maintenance Risk Assessments are conducted in accordance with VF Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) requirements;

  • Actively participates in the VF IS-BAO and Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives.

  • Ensures that assigned maintenance tasks and related documentation are completed in accordance with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs);

  • Provides guidance to support Maintenance Technicians in the resolution of complex technical inspections or troubleshooting issues for the aircraft assigned.

  • Is responsible for ordering the necessary tools, parts and consumables recommended by the aircraft manufacturer sourced from VF Aviation approved suppliers.

  • As a Crew Chief, is responsible for reviewing, tracking and scheduling inspections and maintenance for the aircraft to which they are assigned;

  • Ensures that all maintenance documentation related to the work that is performed on their assigned aircraft has been completed;

  • Ensures that assigned maintenance tasks and related documentation are completed in accordance with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs);

  • Interfaces with flight crews during pre- and post-flight briefings;

  • Performs post-flight inspections and clears any discrepancies found during the inspection activities;

  • Participates in all aircraft marshalling and towing operations;

  • Assists with aircraft cleaning as required;

  • Assists with snow and ice removal in winter operations as necessary.

  • Assists the flight crews with aircraft departures and arrivals including loading passenger catering and baggage at departure.

  • Assists with maintenance and repair of all ground support equipment.

  • Travels as a Flight technician on international trips.

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: 4+ years

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience as determined by the Director of Maintenance;

  • Completion of aircraft manufacturer’s approved initial and recurrent training programs on specific VF aircraft type(s) required.


  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant license required; Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license required; must have the ability to obtain an airport access badge.

  • Minimum four years of experience as an airframe and power plant technician required.


  • Highly experienced in FAA FAR Part 91 operations.

  • Advanced technical knowledge in aircraft systems and experience in the maintenance of corporate aircraft required. Experience on Falcon aircraft preferred.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and capability of solving complex technical issues with limited supervision required.

  • Well-developed people skills including the ability to effectively interface with and positively influence fellow Crew Chiefs and Maintenance Technicians;

  • Well-developed customer service skills;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;

  • Strong project management and training skills.

  • Ability to identify areas of process improvement.

Hourly Range:

$38.40 USD - $57.60 USD per hour

Annual Incentive Eligibility :

This position is eligible for an annual incentive.

Long Term Incentive Eligibility :

This position is not eligible for long term incentive.
