As an International Projects Manager for Arctic Research projects you will provide project management, logistics and science support to Arctic researchers, primarily researchers in international locations. You will work with international customs agencies, and government permitting and regulations to successfully support projects. You will be working on a program which demands complex logistics coordination, working with established vendor and government relationships across the globe. You'll: • Work with scientists and researchers to manage changes in science support due to scope, weather, mechanical difficulties, and other factors develop risk assessments and cost analysis for projects. • Develop reliable shipping methods to/from international locations. • Develop statements of work, plans, schedules, and implement large- and small-scale, international, arctic-based research projects, including aircraft support. • Work with researchers to define support requirements and assess risks. • Provide proposal assistance to researchers to develop budget estimates, support plans, and assess feasibility and potential impacts on other NSF projects. • Participate in user committee meetings and workshops to develop long-range plans for supporting field research projects. • Develop and implement support projects in international locations. • Serve as point of contact (POC) for Principal Investigators (PIs) and science community in requirements gathering and development. • Serve as POC with international agencies, organizations, and governments to develop and implement support. • Provide day-to-day management of international subcontractors. • Manage the movement of cargo to/from international locations. This position to be based in Denver, CO. This position requires travel to remote field sites and other locations for work assignments for two-week or more periods of time periodically throughout the year. The candidate may be required to utilize lodging and meal service that are typical of remote and austere work environments. Must be able to pass NSF required medical and dental check and drug screen.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • BS or MS degree within applied science, logistics, or related field.

  • 5 years project management experience.

  • Experience managing science field projects is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with logistics systems is highly desirable.

  • Experience with managing and coordinating air operations is desirable.

  • Must be able to pass NSF required medical and dental check and drug screen.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • 10 or more years of experience preferred.

  • Work experience in remote and cold environments is preferred

  • Person already residing in the greater Denver area is preferred
