What you’ll be doing...

The UX Researcher is a design thinker and research analyst, seeking the reasons behind behavior and the wants, needs and priorities of people interacting with our brand. They understand what motivates a consumer population to select one product over another, they can figure out how to make the product more appealing, user-friendly and accessible to the masses. It’s important that the researcher have a deep understanding of design thinking and design process (perhaps even was a designer in a previous life) so they know exactly how to conduct a study and gather information that is meaningful for a product and design centered organization.

The UX Researcher will be primarily responsible for designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on user-centered design research and usability testing for the various customer journey touch-points, including identification of user needs and goals, task and workflow modeling, ethnography and persona development as well as rapid iterative usability testing (in conjunction with UX and Visual Designers), and more formal, in-depth testing. A successful UX Researcher must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent initiatives across the company.

• Conduct usability research both online and in the field and provide recommendations for improvement.• Serve as a member of a team that acts as a 'repository' of research-based usability knowledge.• Work with project business representatives and team members to test business requirements using heuristic/qualitative methods.• Determine user needs by conducting task-focused analyses.• Work with graphic designers to test proposed functionality and look & feel.• Coordinate, conduct and moderate all customer-facing research activities (includes collaboration with recruiting and locating customers to conduct research activities)

• Production and maintenance of design strategy artifacts such as Personas, Customer Journey Maps, Experience Requirements, Reports and Findings read-outs, etc.

Experience Requirements: Usability moderating (all types, particularly one-on-one), participant recruiting/screener creation, experimental design, test method selection, debriefing, facilitation, participant recruiting/screener creation, statistical/qualitative/quantitative analysis, presentations (verbal and written)

  • What we’re looking for...

  • Degree in: computer science, human-computer interaction, behavioral science, psychology, human factors, or design

  • 5-8 years of research & education experience

  • Experience with UI Testing

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of design thinking or human-centered thinking/design

  • Ability to present complex qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to diverse audiences in an understandable and accessible format

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions in user research curriculum, for a broad audience demographic
