This candidate will support the Technical ProfessionalOrganization (TPO) Director in creating plans to develop and grow centersof excellence within the transportation/civil practice. Prefer candidate towork from one of our larger hub offices (Austin, Dallas, Atlanta,Denver, Orlando, Tampa, Las Vegas).Major Function/Role:* Directs and oversees the assignments, activities, and resources of apractice center housed within the companys Technical Professional Organization(TPO). Provides leadership, direction and guidance to technicaldirectors and managers within an assigned practice center to ensure properstaffing and resource allocation to projects.* Additionally, the Sr. Practice Director is responsible for driving aculture of technical excellence throughout the practice by providingopportunities for growth and development of technical staff and ensuring soundquality control and safety procedures are employed by all staff.* Actively works with both business unit directors and sales directors todevelop and implement strategy and to identify opportunities for staffingprojects, pursuits, and to encourage cross-selling.* The practice director is the most senior technical discipline manager withinthe TPO.Job Duties:* Staff Administration: Participates in the selection of candidates forsenior level positions within practice center. Reviews and approves personnelactions recommended by technical directors and resource managers. Conductssemi-annual performance reviews and annual career planning sessions for directreports. Promotes effective performance management and career developmentpractices throughout practice center to ensure all employees reach highestpossible performance level, job satisfaction, and commitment. Maintainshigh employee morale through personal leadership and frequent communicationwith individuals at all job levels. Ensures compliance with policies andprocedures throughout the practice center.* Project Production and Management: Monitors and oversees projectactivities throughout practice center, to ensure that high quality standardsand productivity levels are maintained, and to keep abreast of projectstatus. Approves project work plans, schedules and budgets. Overseesperformance of projects being produced and/or managed within practicecenter. Directs immediate remedial actions to avoid financial losses andclient dissatisfaction. Directs an effective quality control/qualityassurance program within practice center. Monitors and enforces compliancewith established quality control standards, ensuring that appropriatequality assurance activities are being performed throughout practice center.Leads and assists managers within the practice center in the selection ofmethods and in the solution of technical problems; assists in resolvingproblems concerning work across the business units.
