This position is located in the Machine Shop Section, Industrial Equipment Maintenance Branch, Plant Engineering Division, U.S. Mint at Denver. Incumbent manufactures jigs, fixtures, tooling and gauging for in house manufactured parts. To repair, service, overhaul and machine parts for blanking dies. To manufacture parts for production and support equipment.

As a Toolmaker, you will:

  • Design, fabricate, overhaul, calibrate, and repair tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges, as well as standard types of cutting tools.
  • Fabricate and repair blanking die sets, stamping dies, and other special high efficiency dies, carbide dies and components for all denominations of coins.
  • Operate all types of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, jig borers, internal and external cylindrical grinders, surface grinders, hones, and drill presses.

Physical Requirements:

Work requires standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Overhead cranes, hand trucks, and other workers are available to assist with lifting heavier objects.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
