Technical Quality and Design Services (TQDS) LeaderMerrick and Company is seeking a Technical Quality and Design Services(TQDS) Leader for our Infrastructure team in Denver, CO, which wouldinclude limited travel to other Merrick offices in Colorado to support thegrowing practice. The TQDS Leader will have a portfolio of projects for whichthey have final responsibility for delivering (sealing). Within thatportfolio, they will be responsible for design team goals, key successfactors, team roles, internal communications, subcontractcoordination, quality control, drawing and specification production, andtimeliThe TQDS Leader must have unique capabilities in water infrastructuredesign, quality control, standards development, planning and designprocess optimization, and technical delivery mentorship. The TQDS Leaderwill critically review approaches, initiate refinements, and oversee theupgrading of standard methods. They will work with Project Managers to ensurethat a Project Procedures Manual is developed and followed on every MerrickProject and will serve as the QA/QC lead on projects they not sealing.Generally, this is not an external client facing role focused on newbusiness development. The TQDS is not anticipated to be leading thenegotiation of contracts. Rather, the TQDS Leader will focus on staffdevelopment and continuously improving the technical quality of our designsand streamlining our design processes without adversely impacting quality. TheTQDS Leader will support externally focused project managers:in developing and refining technical approaches on projects and proposalsattending client meetings as requested, andparticipating in technical committees with potential clients.The TQDS Leader will provide technical mentorship and design advisement for ateam of 4-12 project engineers. This will include facilitating technicalprofessional development discussions and supporting staff as they implementtheir development plans. Part of the role involves identifying and creatingopportunities for project engineering staff to both strengthen and diversifytheir skill base.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering related discipline15 years of infrastructure industry experience8 years of progressive design experience related to water/wastewatertreatment, pumping, and conveyance.5 years of technical and professional mentoring experienceRequired Certifications: P.E. (Professional Engineer) in any state withthe ability to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado with 6 monthsDesired Qualifications:Master's Degree in civil engineering related discipline20 years of infrastructure industry experience15 years of progressive design experience related to water/wastewatertreatment, pumping, and conveyance.10 years of technical and professional mentoring experience5 years of experience working within a cross-discipline design centerContinuous improvement and business system optimization experience.The TQDS Leader will work across the entirety of the Merrick organization onprojects, standardization, and leveraging of talent (wherever it existsin the organization) including collaboration with:Merrick's Infrastructure Team which includes transportation, landdevelopment, surface water, and whitewater consulting servicesMerrick's High Performance Facilities Group which includes structural,electrical, architectural, and mechanical discipline engineering.Merrick's Energy and Chemicals Group that require Industrial Wastewaterdesign services.Physical RequirementsThe job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computerworkstation.Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must bemet by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions.Occasional travel to client facilities and project sites require ability to
