Primary ResponsibilitiesHDR Engineering is currently seeking a Substation EIT to join our growing andnationally-ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in our Denver-basedSubstation team.The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team that executestechnical design on substation engineering projects ranging in scale fromsimple device replacements to large greenfield design projects. This is anexcellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who is eager tolearn and take on new challenges. The primary duties of a Substation EIT include preparation of engineeringdrawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electricalsubstations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems underthe direction and supervision of more senior engineers and designers. Thesuccessful ideal candidate will be seeking knowledge and experience in boththe Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects ofHigh Voltage (HV) Substation design. Other responsibilities include:* Work under the direction of the Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).* Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.* Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings in accordancewith national design standards, safety codes and project specifications andrequirements.* Typical designs include one-line diagrams, protection and controlschematic development, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications,substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cablesizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, andsubstation grounProject assignments are expected to be primarily in the Colorado/RockyMountain area, although assignment to projects located in other geographiesis possible. Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) isnecessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be requiredinfrequently on project assignments.Qualifications Required Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.* 0-4 years of electrical design experience is required* EIT/FE or ability to obtain EIT/FE registration within 6 months isrequired.* Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Microstation and/orAutoCAD a plus.* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of ouremployee-owned culture is a mustPreferred Qualifications* Preference given to candidates local to the Denver, CO area.* Electrical utility, consulting engineering, or similar substationdesign experience preferred.* Familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software such as SKMPowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower.* Openness and willingness to work on cross-functional assignments inadjacent industries (wastewater, power generation, mining,civil/structural, etc.) #LI-MB2 Why HDRAt HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for; it'salso about what you do and how you do it.
