We havethe depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technicallychallenging and time-critical infrastructure projects and the urgenttransition to a low-carbon economy.Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join ourDenver, CO Water Resource Group as a Senior Water Resources Engineer.MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLEA strong candidate for this role must be competent in performing waterresources engineering work and demonstrate a broad knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design methods. A strong candidate will be able toindependently make sound preliminary engineering decisions, develop waterresource design plans, write design specifications, and plan technicalreports. Under direction, applies full competency in conventionalengineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in specialty area. Ondesign assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent toengineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving engineeringinvestigations and planning work, has a firm grasp of the fundamentals ofengineering processes and their application to operating systems. On projectsinvolving engineering services related to construction activities, hasdeveloped a thorough understanding of construction methods and the manner inwhich engineering drawings a nd specifications are translated into theconstructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.JOB DUTIES* Plans, schedules, creates specifications, conducts or coordinatesdetailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in atotal project of moderate scope.* Responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all workproduced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawingsperformed by others.* Analyzes technical problems, assesses the feasibility of proposedtechniques and procedures, and devises new approaches and alternativesolutions* Performs preliminary engineering design and/or reviews the design anddrafting work of junior engineers, designers or drafters.* Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets and schedules.* Prepares or oversees the preparation of final plans and reports and submitsthem for approval.* Conducts or oversees personnel involved in engineering investigations andplanning work.* Coordinates work with other engineers and professionals within and outsideown discipline, and with support services staff.* Plans, schedules and conducts or coordinates construction services onprojects of moderate scope.* May occasionally assist in the management of projects.* May perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deemnecessary.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE* B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers withfour years' experience since B.S.; three years experience since M.S.Incumbents typically have six to ten years' experience since Bachelor'sdegree.SPECIAL SKILLS* The candidate must have DOT roadway drainage design experience and must beproficient in MicroStation, Civil 3D, and highway drainage design.* GIS experience associated with water resources, stream restoration, and2-D modeling experience is preferable.* Good technical writing, computer and communications skills.
