ROLE SUMMARYThe qualified candidate will join the Manufacturing Science and Technology(MSAT) organization supporting biological therapeutics and vaccines.Within MSAT, the candidate will work in the Fermentation Group, whichdevelops processes for production and recovery of recombinant proteins,polysaccharides, bioconjugates, and other biologics.Projects may include execution of processes at lab and pilot scales, processdevelopment and characterization, scale-up and tech transfer to commercialmanufacturing, process simulation and modeling, process troubleshooting,new technology development and implementation.The incumbent will run various fermentation and recovery unit operations,including scales from 100 mL to 100 L.The scope of the project work may include assistance in tasks in any or all ofthe following stages: scope definition, feasibility studies,cost/benefit analyses, design, specification development, projectplanning, implementation, and post-implementation monitoring and follow-up.The incumbent must be capable of providing significant contributions tocross-functional projects.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizing a reasonable level of technical understanding, the incumbent isresponsible for executing fermentation and recovery experiments in support ofprocess modeling, troubleshooting and technical transfer.The candidate must be able to execute, analyze, document, andcommunicate results from experimental studies.Preference will be given to candidates with scaling experience from commercialto lab scales (and vise versa).The incumbent will be required to assist in troubleshooting and resolvingprocess issues, diagnosing technical problems, and determining short- andlong-term solutions. The incumbent will be required to work both independentlyand in team environments.The incumbent will be expected to assist in the preparation of technicalreports, provide oral presentations to scientists and management, andassist in the preparation of regulatory filing documents, as required.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biochemical or ChemicalEngineering required.1-3 years of relevant experience required.Successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSScientific background and/or training in subject areas of microbiology,recovery operations and filtration is preferred.Technical knowledge and skills in fermentation of biologics achieved throughindustrial or academic experience in research and development, technicaloperations, manufacturing, etc.Experience in scaling recovery operations is a plus.Experience with operating, monitoring and/or control of fermentationprocesses on a variety of fermentors and use and scaling of homogenizers anddisc-stack centrifuges is a plus.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTSThis role is primarily day shift, Monday through Friday.Must be flexible to work outside of regular schedule in order to meet businessand/or customer needs.Other Job Details:Last Date to Apply for Job: 28 SEPTEMBER 2020Eligible for Employee Referral Bonus#LI-PFESunshine ActPfizer reports payments and other transfers of value to health care providersas required by federal and state transparency laws and implementingregulations.
