WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager for our Denver or Boulder office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to Client Request for Proposals on wind, solar and energy storage projects;

  • Manage and Coordinate projects with clients and other disciplines;

  • Plan, execute and control the project through all phases of “Issued for Construction” design, Owner’s Engineer due diligence, Independent Engineer analysis and other assignments;

  • Successfully manage project performance (technical performance and/or production organization, on internal or external projects) with direct responsibility for service delivery and/or technical quality to the client;

  • Knowledge of related disciplines/fields of engineering is required;

  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing and regular basis to maintain communication over the phone and in-person;

  • Coach, mentor, influence, motivate and supervise project team members and contractor to act and to be accountable for assigned work;

  • Use initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate design and field engineering difficulties and coordinate work schedules;

  • Recommend change in plans, estimate costs and recommend payment for completed work;

  • Contact associates in other departments to discuss and advise on requirements;

  • Consult with suppliers or contractors to interpret specifications or other contract criteria;

  • Develop and maintain client relationships effectively;

  • Responsible for positive project budget performance;

  • Develop and deliver progress reports and presentations;

  • Write Technical Reports and other duties as assigned; and

  • Occasional travel within the US and Canada for Client Meetings, Site Assessments and Site Support.

  • Tasks related to Construction Services:

  • Lead internal staff and/or manage selection/contracting with subcontractors for tasks such as MET tower installation and testing, Wind Turbine Inspection and Overall site assessment.

  • Lead pre-construction activities, construction activities, weekly progress meetings, schedule and cost management, change management, mitigate potential claims and disputes, work closely with all members of the client and project team

  • Oversight of contractor’s Quality Control protocols for contract compliance of specified Quality Assurance in accordance with the technical requirements

  • Support Quality Assurance program and schedule contractor compliance audits.

  • Ensure that the contractor is keeping compliance review records and correcting deficiency notices in the field.

  • Support client’s project controls team with schedule analysis to determine if all critical path elements meet project milestones and revenue

  • Monitor all measuring and testing requirements for design compliance, including all static and dynamic testing for system integration and interface.

  • If full time site supervision is required, hire or select internal staff to support the project requirements while providing guidance throughout the project phases.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering;

  • 8-15 years of experience;

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience;

  • Knowledge of project planning, procurement and construction phases;

  • Suitable experience in the design or construction of renewable energy or other similar energy projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer and/or Master’s Degree preferred

  • PMP preparation or credential an asset;

  • Experience as a prime consultant as well as a sub-consultant desirable;
