BHC RHODES MRE Field Technician (Various US Cities) in Denver, Colorado

Overview

The Field Technician should be comfortable doing Field surveys and make ready design. In this role they will verify the proposed design and make the appropriate engineering changes/redlines based on your Field analysis. Should have solid telecom field experience, including Fiber to the X (FTTX, FTTH) deployments. This includes aerial and underground cable systems, termination; cable placement, heavy construction/infrastructure, and aerial make ready tasks. Possible locations are Colorado and Kansas.

Responsibilities

  • Field engineering of underground/aerial telecom design.

  • Identify and properly judge possible re-routes, long lead permit situations, or other factors that could cause construction issues.

  • Perform field data collections utilizing electronic measuring devices, tablet computer, GPS, and other electronic devices in order to collect data for input into database software as necessary.

  • Perform measurements of various elements including pole dimensions, directional azimuth of all conductors emanating from a pole, heights of all attachments, span lengths of conductors and service drops, etc.

  • Develop a working knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and telephone, cable and other communication facilities.

  • Daily communication to the office with updates and issues.

  • Keep track of computer files and transfers files to the office.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Some technical or college is a plus.

  • Minimum of 1 year field utility/telecom inspection or design experience.

  • Able to interpret and explain applicable regulations, statues, plan specifications and administrative functions.

  • Able to communicate effectively, written and verbal.

  • Able to stand for long hours and traverse rough terrain.

  • Hold honesty, integrity and professional conduct of utmost significance.

  • Dependable and reliable, able to report to work on time and work up to 10 hours per day, possibly 6 days per week.

  • 100% travel, working within one market for several months at a time.

  • Physically able to perform field work which requires working in hot and cold weather while handling equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds.

  • Production minded, able to complete daily requirements.

  • Demonstrate good technical skills associated with telecom construction and joint use projects.

  • Have a strong ability to utilize technology.

  • Have a strong appreciation and committed to compliance with procedures and standards.

  • Able to take direction while at the same time work independently.

  • Accuracy, quality and completeness and schedule adherence can be independently maintained by you, and measured by others.

  • Submits accurate time sheets and expense reports as directed to the Overland Park office for payroll processing.

  • Able to accurately perform basic measuring of heights, distances and angles.

  • Use of own vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
