As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will help direct, coordinate and actively participate in creating a sustainable culture of continuous improvement with a focus on the manufacturing process. Creating cell layouts and optimizing operational KPIs will be a core focus on your daily activities. Key responsibilities include the identification of waste within our current state and developing a repeatable, reliable and efficient solution targeted at eliminating the waste. The Manufacturing Engineer I will prioritize and deploy engineering techniques and Lean solutions across the factory to meet key Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets. This role comes with the autonomy to problem solve, the support of leadership to drive implementation, and the capital backing to create world class manufacturing techniques and processes.

REPORTING TO : Value Stream Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with cross functional team to understand equipment and process inefficiencies to reduce defects, unscheduled downtime, and waste. Identifying root cause and developing / implementing cost effective process changes.

  • Proficient in the root cause counter measure process.

  • Work with department supervisors, maintenance and manufacturing personnel to develop and document standard work (Setup, Change over, Single Piece flow, Operator balance charts)

  • Assist with training operators to standard work.

  • Assist in support documentation of processes to maintain conformity throughout production (i.e. process maps, dashboards, FMEAs, and control plans)

  • Develop IQ, OQ, PQ methodology for new equipment / process builds ensuring risk is understood and developing a validation process to ensure escapes don’t reach the customer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated operational experience with results driven through continuous improvement.

  • Experienced in Root Cause Counter Measure Problem Solving techniques, (A3 problem solving, Fishbone, 5 why)

  • Preferred experience in metal forming processes & knowledge of die design

  • Track record of improving operational KPIs

  • Experienced at facilitating Kaizen events.

  • Background in Lean manufacturing and waste elimination

  • Background in Manufacturing assembly optimization (single piece flow) MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

  • Achieves annual performance targets in safety, quality and productivity

  • On time and on budget completion of projects EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering backgrounds

  • Effective communication, both verbal and written

  • Safety and security: The individual actively promotes and personally observes all safety procedures.The individual complies with Environmental, Safety, and Hazardous Communications requirements.

  • The estimated compensation for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 per year

  • This position may be eligible for a business unit bonus of 3% annually

  • This position is also eligible for our comprehensive U.S. benefit offerings, which include Health benefits, 401(k) retirement savings program with company match, at least 80 hours of vacation, along with holiday, sick and personal time off.
