Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions has a career opportunity for aGeotechnical Engineer to join our global mining team in Denver, CO. Theselected candidate will provide geotechnical engineering services for miningand geotechnical projects, including design and construction of tailingsstorage facilities, heap leach pads and other mine infrastructure.Our ideal candidate has a geotechnical mining background. We are also open toindividuals with a civil land development background interested intransitioning into this field.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out analytical and design functions for projects at stages ranging fromscoping to detailed engineering, construction and closureWork approximately 80% in the office and 20% in the field; this canvary, depending on client needsDevelop and carry out geotechnical investigations, laboratory testing plansand instrumentation installationManage and direct site investigations and prepare technical reportsManage and coordinate project teams, ensure the technical quality ofdeliverablesProvide geotechnical engineering services related to tailings, heap leachand mine waste facilities, including seepage, stability and settlementanalysisProvide Civil 3D design services for various mining projectsProvide construction quality assurance (CQA) services for mining projectsBe encouraged to become a senior contributing member of the Wood E&IS Inc.Mining Group, which is a global team of professionals responsible for thedesign, operating assistance and closure/reclamation planning oftailings, leach and mine waste facilities around the worldWill travel to project sites in the US and internationally - Approximately20% overnight travelSkills / QualificationsBS in Civil or Geological Engineering; MS degree in Geotechnical EngineeringpreferredEIT or the ability to obtain an EIT within 6 months3 years + of experience in the geotechnical / mining field is a plusCQA field experience for earthworks and geomembrane installation on miningprojects desiredAutoCAD Civil 3D advanced level is preferredExperience in tailings dam and/or heap leach design and construction ispreferredExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishDemonstrated report writing skillsAbility and willingness to travel to project sites in the US andinternationally - Approximately 20% overnight travelMust pass drug test, physical, background check and must have asatisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving(MVR) poliCompany OverviewWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering andtechnical services to energy and industrial markets.
