Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Junior Structural Engineer for employment in Denver, CO.

This position is expected to begin in February 2021.

With more than 3,200 Water professionals in all major markets throughout the United States and Canada, AECOM’s Water business line leverages nearly a century of local, national and international project experience to provide today’s municipalities, industries and governments with cost-effective solutions to their Water challenges. We deliver our services—from environmental planning studies to detailed design, construction management, and operations and maintenance—to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Our public sector work encompasses everything from small rural communities, to large urban centers, to agencies with regional responsibilities. Our private sector work includes assignments for multiple commercial/industrial sectors, including oil and gas, chemicals, power, food and beverage, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of structures related to water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, including but not limited to buildings, concrete water-retaining treatment structures, retaining walls, and miscellaneous metal structures such as platforms, bridges, and pipe supports.

  • Analysis related to wind and seismic.

  • Generation of calculations related to structural designs.

  • Collaborate with various team members such as Process engineers, Architects, Project management, and CAD designers.

  • Prepare specifications, cost estimates, reports, and schedules.

  • Work under the supervision and guidance of a senior level Structural Engineer as well as independently with little oversight.

  • Ability to work remotely when required due to COVID-19 safeguards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field.

  • Experience within the Water/Wastewater, oil and gas, or similar industry.

  • Field experience related to construction projects.

  • Experience with construction administration related to the review of requests for information (RFIs) and shop drawing submittals during the construction phase of projects.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

  • Competent in the use of Structural Engineering computer software such as Enercalc, STAAD, SAP, Bentley RAM, etc.

  • Experience using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.

  • 1 to 3 years of design experience in Structural Engineering.

  • Knowledge of building and material design codes.

  • Capable of supporting multiple projects at a time and meeting project schedules.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
