Collins Engineers, Inc. is an ENR Top 500 Design Firm delivering engineeringingenuity and solutions; and realistic, honest answers since 1979.SUMMARY:The Civil Engineer performs assignments designed to develop professional workknowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard engineeringtechniques, procedures, and criteria. Usually has no responsibility fordirection of others. Reports to a Project Engineer or Project Manager.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may beassigned.Technical Performs basic engineering design tasks including grading, drainage,paving, utility, and roadways for public and private sector clients. Uses basic hydrology, earthwork, AutoCAD and Civil 3D software. Prepares simple reports and contributes to more complex reports. Prepares simple submittals to State, Municipal, and other agencies andcontributes to more complex submittals. Exercises limited judgement on design decisions and selection oftechniques or alternatives. Provides limited assistance in preparation of specifications and contractdocuments. Manages project files for conformance with company standards. Keeps Project Engineers and Managers informed of workload. Is active in technical societiesBusiness Development / Marketing Is able to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours. Has limited communication with clients.Leadership / Management Provides limited direction to Engineering Technicians. Interacts withother departments and offices in order to coordinate work.Operations Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of theknowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-yearuniversity plus appropriate continuing education and 0-4 years of experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, generalbusiness periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, orgovernmental regulations. Ability to write technical reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and theREASONING ABILITY:Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate facts, and draw validconclusions.
